Arriving in Bangkok (17th Jan) - Andy

After spending 11 hours comatose on the plane, I woke up opening my dried out eyes to find we’d finally landed at Suvarnabhumi airport. The captain informed us that the temperature outside was a sweltering 32 degrees which is a little bit warmer than the 8 degrees back at home.

Feeling lazy I sat in my seat and waited til all the other passengers got off first. If there’s one thing i hate on a plane, it’s how people all rush off to eventually wait an hour to get through passport control and try and find their luggage. Besides, it gave me a chance to finally dig out my south-east asia guidebook to work out what we were doing first!

Me and Al studied the book for a good few minutes working out which buses to get from the airport to Bangkok only to find that the guidebook was about 4 years old and the airport was actually different to the one we thought it was! So eventually, we caught the AE2 bus to Kao San Road where the majority of the other travellers got off.

After spending about 1 and a half hours looking for a hostel or guest house which wasn’t over 400 baht (about 5 pound 50) we finally found the Green House with a twin room for 390 baht. Bargain, we saved 10 baht! After walking up the 5 flights of stairs to our roomroom-2.JPG we took our backpacks off and felt light as a feather. End of day 1!Our room
